Designed for Gym Safety

Beta Break has been designed with gym safety in mind.

• There are no hard plastic pieces (such as dice or tokens) and no boards or mats to get in the way of other climbers. The entire game is played with only a deck of cards.
• There are no card-position mechanics, which would be hard to keep steady when crowds of climbers are around.
• There are no “hands” for players to hold (meaning, when the player is climbing, they don’t have to worry about stashing their hand away from other climbers).
• The game is played on a single problem. All players climb on this single problem. This prevents a group of players from compromising multiple problems in the gym.
• The game rules forbid card effects from impacting starting positions and finish holds. Climbers should always feel safe, especially when starting a problem and finishing a problem.
• The game rules prioritize personal safety with a Safety Rule which states: If the Climber feels unsafe, they can attempt the send without adhering to active Beta or Break cards.
