Alternate Play Modes

Beta Break can be customized to fit the playing (and climbing) styles of every climber. Try these alternate play modes, and feel free to invent your own play modes!

Multiple Chances Mode

Each player starts with 3 Health. At no time can a player have more than the starting Health

  • Failing a send:
    • The Climber loses 1 Health.
    • The next player can attempt to “Steal the Send.” If they succeed, they gain 1 Health. If they fail, they lose 1 Health
    • At 0 Health, you are a Ghost Player.
  • If you want a longer game, simply start each player with more Health points.

Hard Mode

Break cards must be honored for EVERY move during an attempt (instead of during a single move).

Deck Types

Some cards feature icons showing their expansion or deck type. These symbols are guides to help you create tailored experiences, but they’re not strict rules for deck building. These symbols are:

Training

This symbol marks cards for decks focused on improving or learning climbing techniques. Build a Training deck to sharpen your skills and become a better climber.

Youth

Though Beta Break is intended for climbers aged 15+, this symbol marks cards that may be suitable for climbers aged 6-14, with adult supervision. Build a Youth deck to create a fun, beginner-friendly experience.
